What is Technical Communication?

When we think of Technical Communication, we often think of examples of technical information such as instruction manuals, reference guides, consumer electronics guides, assembly instructions, training videos, online help, knowledge bases, and the like. The product is only part of the equation. Technical Communication is also a detailed process of planning, analysis, design, writing, revising, and testing.

WCC’s Technical Communication programs focus on both the process and the product. With a strong emphasis in clear and effective technical writing, students learn how to plan and execute a project, delivering their technical information in a variety of outputs including print, online, mobile, and video formats.

This site is designed to introduce you to the programs we offer and additional resources that might help you embark on a career in Technical Communication.
